How do I sign in?
Every family has its own site (something like smith.probablycousins.com). Go to Sign in, type your email, and we'll take you to your family's door. Then use the password you chose when you joined.
I forgot my password. What now?
On your family's sign-in page, tap "Forgot your password?" and enter your email. We'll send a link to set a new one. Check your spam folder if it hasn't arrived in a few minutes.

A relative sent me a link. What do I do with it?
Open it. It takes you to a short form -- your name, your email, a password -- and then you're in your family's site. Each link works once; if yours says it has already been used or has run out, ask the relative for a fresh one.
How do I invite a relative?
Sign in to your family's site and open Admin (top of the page). Tap "Create an invite link", then send that link by text or email. Your relative opens it, chooses a password, and lands straight in the family site.

What does "Probably" mean?
It's the whole idea. We never guess. Every family link we show is labelled with how strong the evidence is -- proved, documented, index only, or family story -- instead of pretending to a certainty we don't have. See our honesty rules at /honesty.
privacy
What about living relatives?
A living person's details are only ever shown inside their own family's signed-in site, and only if the family chooses to show them. On this public site a living person never appears by name or date. Anyone can ask for their details to be removed.
How do I delete my account, or a relative's information?
Sign in to your family site and open Account (top of the page). You can ask to delete your own account, or to remove a living relative's details. A person handles these by hand, usually within a few days.

What's free?
Joining, searching, browsing your family's site, and checking a tree file are free. The one paid thing is asking us to chase down the record behind a weak link (Document Your Cousins) -- and you see the price before it starts. While we're getting started, that is free for families too.
bring
How do I get my tree out of Ancestry (or another program)?
Look for Export in your tree's settings -- it gives you a file ending in .ged. Step-by-step notes are on Bring Your Cousins (/bring).
